Recently I have been painting urban landscapes in London, and the revelation of seeing beauty in the streets around me has led me down new avenues, both figuratively and literally. I enjoy the patterns and shapes of buildings, streets and sky lines. In search of new panoramas, I have been given access to vistas usually inaccessible to the public, including the roof the Royal College of General Practitioners, which gave a birds eye view of the HS2 building site.
The post-industrial spaces have been competing with the green spaces in London and I have become a regular feature with my easel in Parks, on canal side paths and along the Thames. I find the juxtaposition of man-made with the natural world intriguing and fun to paint.
